Mixson is proud to announce that it is the first and largest group of residences in South Carolina to pursue LEED for Homes Silver certification. LEED - the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design green building rating system - is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. Each Mixson home will also achieve the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star accreditation.

Mixson is designed to tread lightly on the environment. Its central location -- close to public transit and within a short walk of restaurants, schools, parks and shops -- allows residents to spend less time commuting in cars, and more time walking and biking in the neighborhood. QUALITY
CONSTRUCTION



Most residences are constructed of AAC (autoclaved aerated concrete) block. This product offers superior energy efficiency, reducing home heating and cooling costs. It also offers excellent sound insulation, is fire and termite resistant, and is structurally resistant to hurricane-force winds. AAC contains no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) so you can breathe healthier indoor air.

& COOLING



The zoned heating and cooling units are state of the art, SEER 14 rated, using Puron refrigerant to protect the atmosphere and economize energy bills. All HVAC equipment and duct systems are properly designed to insure maximum home comfort and provide a healthy indoor air quality.

CRAFTSMANSHIP



Superb craftsmanship reduces waste. Thoughtful design for roof and floor systems and stick framing for interior walls minimize use of excess framing wood. Environmentally preferable products are used in the exterior wall framing.

Indoor paints are low-VOC content, reducing chemicals that can trigger allergies and asthma.
 

WATER
CONSERVATION



Permeable pavers in alleys and courtyards reduce water runoff. Indoor water saving features such as dual force low-flow faucets and dual-flush, low-flow toilets are standard features in every home, as are tankless hot water heaters that minimize hot water waste. The landscapes are designed using native plants to reduce the demand for irrigation. A tankless hot water system uses a heating and piping arrangement that minimizes hot water waste.

ENERGY
STAR HOMES



Every home will be an Energy Star home with Energy Star labeled appliances, light fixtures, bathroom exhaust fans and programmable thermostats.
