Design FeaturesMixson feels a little different. The roads are narrower. Homes are closer to the street. Buildings are clustered in creative ways to enhance the spaces in between. Outdoor rooms complement interior landscapes. Serendipity is celebrated. Some call it New Urbanism. Some call it traditional neighborhood design. We call it sensible, good living.Come take a walk and you'll see why Mixson is such a special place. |
Parks
Mixson's first public space is an intimate courtyard on Summey Street at its intersection with McCarthy Street. The courtyard is designed around a 50 year old Laurel Oak and includes a small fountain.
This space is designed to be flexible, so it should be perfect whether you are looking for a place to read a book in the shade, have a neighborhood party, or anything in between. Street Design
Streets are the backbone along which a community is created. At Mixson, we've put incredible care into designing the streets for pedestrians, bicyclists, and playing children as well as for cars. Mixson streets are places in their own right: public spaces that support a vibrant community life, and offer safe transport to all.
Trees
The Mixson neighborhood benefits from a substantial collection of trees of a variety of species. Live and laurel oaks, magnolias, and maples are found in every corner of the property. Mixson is designed to protect these trees, and in many cases they will be located in public parks and courtyards.
